The shiny disc is driven by the engine. The spoked wheel is driven by the disc and in turn drives the small sprocket which drives the rear wheels via chain to sprocket on rear.
The “CVT” aspect is accomplished with the spoked wheel on a splined shaft and the ability to move it from center of disc to left outer and back in.
