Hey everyone, I'm new to this subreddit so I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask.
I want to buy my dad a classic Corvette (late 70s-80s) for his retirement. He would be working with no heavy machinery and would prefer no heavy lifting, basically out of his garage as a project.
I'm very new to the classic car space and not sure if there is anything more to look out for apart from the usual (does it run, engine/transmission works, battery, etc. He would be working with no heavy machinery and would prefer no heavy lifting, basically out of his garage as a project.
And even for the usual things to look out for, is it very different when it comes to classic cars/cars made before 2000? Are there any specific signs of problems that aren't present in modern cars? If there is rust present, is it doomed? Or if it is not in the frame, then it is addressable?
I've been trying to watch some Corvette restoration videos to see if I can learn anything more, but would like some advice from anyone who is more experienced in buying and restoring old classic cars.
