‘49 shoebox 3 speed column shifter question
Working on a customers car, this is a 1949 ford coupe with a 3 on the tree, frankly I’ve never worked on a shoebox before so I’m stumped. It won’t go into reverse while running, but once you shut it off it shifts into reverse. The clutch was pretty stiff when I depressed it and then it fell to the floor and wouldn’t return on its own so I’m thinking a clutch return spring is in order. I’ve looked at the shift linkage rods and they’re pretty corroded and I’m going to replace the bushings along with the rods if I can find them. But idk what else it could be, maybe just an adjustment? If so not really sure the correct position of the rods.
ALSO I will be acquiring a ‘63 falcon with a 289 FOR FREE if I can get this man’s car running. So any help will be appreciated.
